the escos is owned by my boss, and as far as he was aware it was mint, he never tried to fool you,
and he only ever uses it for sunny days, and NEVER thrashes it.
it is true the sill had a hole in it, which he is now having repaired, but until that appeared there were none.
as for the over spray, it had a couple of stone chips which he paid good money to have fixed, and the guy obviously ripped him off.
i feel sorry for you travelling all that way for nothing and hope this doesn't blight your trust in people

nah, just trying to diffuse this as no-one was trying to rip anyone off.
march motors, a local dealer of high performance cars thought it was mint like we did.
i think that the buyer was looking for a real showroom condition car, and this one is nearly there but not quite,
i do hope his search does turn up what he's looking for, cant beat a quality cossie imho.
i'm contemplating buying another saff, its advertised here for sale, 1989 450bhp with carbon bonnet and white 18" MO's
just trying to convince the wife to let me get it.

No mate wasn`t looking for a showroom condition car , was looking for an honest genuine example..." which it was`nt "...I did take his word for it that it was mint..He seemed a genuine nice fella, but at the end of the day mate it is nowhere near showroom condition. My mate who came with me is a cosworth technitian and when he checks any potential car he contacts Phil Saunders( owners club escort cosworth registrar). Both have alot of knowledge between them and its on there say so if its worth buying...That car needed welding underneath, and most people who want a nice cossie wont touch car thats been welded. Only way round it was to fit new floor pans to make it look original, just cost too much to put car right correctly mate

a wee bit of weld dont bother me that much on a car that is nearly 10 years old,
be different if it was 3 - 5 years old maybe.
but i understand where you are coming from, have you found another one yet ?

I found one mate but wanted cash, Lee Reynolds minter. Just couldn`t sell Evo private, offered silly p/x on stupid offers. Had an 04 plate Focus RS with 8.5k on the clock m8. Real minter and gave me 16.5k for my Evo.Will get a cossie again. I sold a K plate and that was solid underneath, well cared for by myself and previous owner..found it hard to find one as solid or as honest, lad who had mine had one hell of a car..................
