Well, I think you always do mate to be honest. Cars are always the reason I'm skint. I'm certainly not doing any more chopping and changing. I must admit I do like the one I've got now, although I still say the scene isn't the same anymore, although that could be me turning into an old git who doesn't give a toss anymore.
I used to be able to buy an RS Turbo, tidy it up and sell it on for a bit of a profit as a hobby, but I wouldn't even try these days. You can't find a good one cheap enough, and there isn't the market for them anyway. It's just too much hassle for nothing really.
I still think a good Escort Cossie will sell if it's priced right, but it's just getting that one person that wants it, like I did with the one I've got. And feeling you've got it at the right price (ish).
It's amazing what else you can buy for the same sort of money though.

Probably because:
You want a minter, but you won't spend the right money to get one, so you look at cheaper ones and won't accept them because they're not good enough. I don't blame you for trying to get one at the right price though, but if you want it cheap you have to compromise on something.
Have a look at JCT28 at the moment, they've got this one at Ł16495:
1995 N Reg Ford Escort 1993 cc RS Cosworth Lux, Junction 28 3 Doors, Manual, HATCHBACK, Petrol, 47,000 miles, Imperial Blue, FREE RAC INSPECTION, Excellent, Open 7 Days, M1 J28 2 MINS., 4WD. Documented Service History,Twin air Bags,Full Leather,Stainless Steel . . . . (trade)

must admit James, i think you are wanting too much for the money. The good ones are only going to rise. There have been some mint example get sold, but all have been 16k plus...i know as i wanted imperial or auralis. Good ones ata good price dont exist anymore

No offence TrevCos but you don't really know much about me and my Cosworth search it seems.
Believe me I have the budget to buy a minter and if I have the budget and I want a minter why should I settle for second best? There are a number of members on here that know how much I want one and how much I can afford and they all agree that I'm doing the right thing in waiting for the right car. I'm not trying to get a cheap car, I'm trying to get the right car. The money is here, unfortunately the car isn't!
That car a JCT 28 you mentioned is nowhere near mint, in fact I wouldn't even say it was tidy. For that kind of money I'd expect a car in better condition than the one they're trying to sell. Both the Imperial ones they have are poor and overpriced for the condition they are in.
Apologies to Lee for hijacking his post. Sorry mate.

I know mate it is weird, I don't get it either. Aubergine doesn't seem to be the "in" colour at the moment.
Have many people viewed the car Lee?

Didn't mean to cause affence James, go and get one from Automotive Unlimited then, if you've got the cash for a minter, they've had several mint low mileage ones in the past. Or ask them to ring you when they get one.
PS Re the JCT28 one, I haven't seen it in the flesh, just didn't know whether it was one you had considered.
Doesn't bother me what you buy at the end of the day, so I'll keep my nose out. I've got the one I want, so good luck with your search.

I'm not going to give up the search until there's an Imperial Blue Escort Cosworth in my driveway!

I admire your patience mate.
To be honest I wanted a red one when I bought my first one, but I went on condition and price at the time, and got my aubergine one. But I always hankered after a red one, and now I've got one and I'm well chuffed. It's done more miles than the old one (now 53k) but it was the price I wanted to pay, with a lot of the mods I wanted and in excellent condition with full history for Ł13k. And I wanted to try a Big Turbo this time, the old one was small turbo. So hang on in there, I'm sure the car you want is out there somewhere.

At the end of the day it's a lot of money when you look at what else you can get for the same money these days mate. I must admit I ummed and arred before paying Ł13k for mine. It's only cos I'm a die hard Ford fan that I did it, and I think there are definitely less of us about these days.
And of course places like JCT28 will do p/x, finance, warranty etc.
If they're a bargain price they will always sell though. Mine is in excellent nick and has a lot of the mods I would have done myself, but I wouldn't have paid a penny more than I did, and he'd dropped it quite a lot, but it was overpriced originally I think.

Thing is trev...if you want a mint example of an escort cosworth, then youre not going to be actually looking at other car out there for the same price.
4k is a lot for a G plate series 2
8k is a lot for a sierra cos
7k is lot for a s1 turbo
15k plus is a hell of a lot for a 500
but, these are the prices. I am not puzzled as to why it aint sold, as i know at this condition and price, the market is very narrow, i just a but puzzled i aint even had a call.

Well I wouldn't and never have paid those sort of prices for those cars mate. People put them up for that sort of money but they'd have to be super mint and have someone literally fall in love to pay those asking prices I reckon. Although it might just be me.
Keep it and have some fun mate.

it is better than super mint Trev thats the thing. Apart from not being painted underneath its concours. I only own cars like this its a known fact some kind of disease
Its less than i paid, its less than i have seen em sold for, its less than a lot advertised with more miles etc.
Ill bide me time, id just also like to move on!
