Shame to see it up for sale, if it's not getting used there is little point keeping it.
Was good to get some up close videos of it all those years ago, looks and sounds immense.

Martin would obviously now prefer to have 60K than the escort himself or it wouldnt be for sale, so im sure he wont care if a few other people also would sooner have 60K as well.
Only takes one person to appreciate the car for what it is and it will be sold.
I'm sure he wasnt expecting a quick sale!

very well specced car and probably one of the top 5 cars in the country but 60k is a LOT of money to buy the car and it would have to be someone with deep pockets to keep it maintained also.
Expensive track car but reasonable race car? You decide!

I doubt there is a race series anywhere it would be competitive in, its still got quite a few creature comforts in it TBH, even had the electric windows still when I went in it and I dont think that has changed since.
Race cars are built to regulations if they are going to win, that was just built to be martins idea of the ultimate road/track escort and I reckon he did pretty well.
Probably end up at gatebil 4 wheel drifting in the hands of some nutty norwegian if it does sell, they seem to be the ones prepared to spend big on cossies!

It would soon get a good race history which could put the value up!

a legendary car for sale. havent read through the thread, but im sure there will be others agreeing when i say, even coughing up 60k for this car, it will NEVER be your car. and forever be known as the reyland cossie. such a famous car.

chip there are many championships that martins escort would be right at the top of, northern saloon and sport car championship (the champonship I race in) Ive led a race in my old sierra just think how martins car would destoy the opposition! The north west saloons, the boss series, the southern saloons that rod birley etc race in, theres loads and some of the cars competing cost more than 60k so martins would be a bargain to the right racer!
It would soon get a good race history which could put the value up!

I bet even birleys escort is a good couple of hundred kilos lighter.
Wasnt in anyway having a go at martins car, i think its awesome, was just saying that to win a championship you normally start by building a car to the rulebook, is his engine capacity even allowed in any of the championships you mentioned for example?

I dont see how it would compete with the likes of gallachers focus though TBH, its just too heavy.

as for weight, it's easy enough to get more weight out of it
fibreglass boot, bonnet, headlight covers, etc are readily available for the escort
the ex gallacher focus's haven't raced with us for a few years now, I'm certain martins car when peddled right would be winning races in the NSSCC.
