D Plate Escort MK3 Cabriolet for sale
History:
I am fortunate to own two D registered examples which prompted the purchase of this vehicle I am advertising now – would have made a nice photograph! As is the rarity of a D registered S1, I understand that this extends to the MK3 cabriolet.
This example was first registered on 12th August 1986 and sold by Buistrade Motor Company as a Ford Main Dealer
Sadly the two years of ownership has yet to see any further development since its initial purchase. It has however been dry stored since its awakening last weekend where it was started and washed. It started at the third turn with no rattles or smoke!
One key fits all locks (inc. fuel cap)
The vehicle has all its original Ford hand books
Includes the supplementary manual issued with the Cabriolet models.
Ford service history book is present and details its full service record up to approx 69,000 miles.
All the MOT’s from new document thereafter (clocks changed to the White RS upgrade)
All original Ford Panels (inc wings, inner wings and front slap panel)
All original Ford glass (registration number even etched in hood glass)
Engine
The engine and running gear is all in good working order but having stood for some time, would benefit from a setup and service. It does however run very quiet and clear of smoke. The engine bay is dry of oil but would benefit from a steam clean
Interior
The car has the original spec seats with no rips or tears. Would benefit from a clean.
Alloy wheels:
Negotiable with those pictured (not a full set i.e. x3 15” SI and one similar TSW) or S2 RS turbo
Hood:
Tatty having been ‘repaired’ in places but sound and kept the water out when it had a hose pipe over it!
ICE:
Sony speakers included
Bodywork:
Generally good. I haven’t found any welding and from an inspection, it doesn’t require any.
The back panel is good as is all the common areas such as battery tray and fuse box.
It does require minor repairs to the join on the front wing to front panel on both sides (pictured). Also has a little dent on the OSR panel which will push out from the inside – but is pictured and mentioned in order to provide an honest account.
In summary, the car is an excellent winter project with excellent potential and rarity one given the attention required. Please be realistic to the fact that this car was manufactured in 1986 - you will not win concourse so no silly expectations please!!. Having said that, this is too good to break!
This is advertised for £450 but will accept reasonable offers from any S1 site member.
