Default Subaru wrx sti r reg with suspected bottom end gone NOW WITH PICS

just gauging intrest on what to do, i have got a white wrx sti r reg 4 door, iam the first uk owner it has got 11 months mot 5months tax, done roughly 68000 miles, totally standard apart from exhaust, after buying it the bottom end went,so i rebuilt the engine ,traced a good used crank, acl uprated bearings ,got the bores measured and honed , new genuine subaru oil cooler ,piston rings, roger clark uprated oil pump, cometic head gasketts, and so on. i have done roughly 2000 miles in it since the engine has been built,i went out in it last night and its started knocking again,it owes me nearly 5k ,any ideas what its worth as it is ,or any offers, just had enough of the f##king thing. the engine is a red inlet model, but the paint has flaked off, doesnt show to well in pics, and forgot to mention has a little dent on the edge of the bonnet above the driver side headlight ,due to something falling on it,any questions call 07786384861 ryan

My mate just bought a P Reg WRX Wagon with 86,000 Kilometres on the clock for £950!! I know it's a bit older and a wagon but it's in prefect working order, I think your better off keeping it and fixing it mate. Scoobys just seem to be really cheap lately.

I have stripped/rebuilt more Impreza's than you could shake a stick at and never have i heard a fooked tensioner sound like the big ends knocking, however they eat big ends like they are going out of fashion, this is usually caused by the car running lean which causes detonation this then sends a shock wave down the con rod and knocks the big ends out, most times the engine runs lean due to exhaust/filter/ decat etc change without having a subsequent remap carried out.

it would probably cost at least a grand to find a decent used engine as in a real sti one but what i think you are best doing is keeping it and try and source a sti8 bottom end which can be had for around £500 and use your heads give it a remap and you should have no problems then as this is a good bottom end capable of upto 400bhp with your heads and the right turbo md321? but then your gearbox wont last long tho..
the market is stagnent at the moment and people would want it for a lot less ie 1500-1800 quid
good luck with whatever way you go
