Hands up to that.....i wont deny that i made a very slightly higher offer but i did say that i was worried about how legal the car was to drive that far and its just a bit too far to trailer it back.

If you feel that i messed you about then all i can do is appologise andy

I dont mess ppl about , i flew to scotland and drove my cossie back last year so ive done it once and i'd do it again.

Just worried about the identity thing!!

nothing, they would run the plates and see the identity of a genuine s1, would have to go over it with a fine tooth combe to see the truth,...

All these people asking for him to drive it down to England and they'll pay for a flight home makes me laugh Why dont you just fly up and drive the car down for yourselves if your that interested. Or is it just a case incase you get pulled on the way home driving it

if you read the offer from paul at north yorkshire he does say
he would collect but he's busy moving into a bigger workshop

and lammylamma did admit the fact that he might get a pull in it did concern him,

£1900 for the car is a good deal, and the offer of a flight home is a decent gesture from both paul and lammylamma.

well to me it does make sense why people are asking for it to be delivered, if the registered keeper who is insured on that car gets pulled over, there wont be any questions asked, if someone is not insured and the car is not registered to them, the cops will be checking every detail to catch the driver out, its happened to me before when i bought a car and got pulled on the way home luckily i did get away with it

lovely car, shame it has to get broken

If he has already been using the car he must be insured for it, so it would make more sense for him to deliver the car, if he gets a pull then it's him that on the cars log book and it's insured to him so the cops wnt be suspicious about it

he wanted 2k for it so basically he needs to take the risk of a)getting pulled in it b) it breaking down and need recovered, also he'll need to fork out for the fuel down and he's gettin 1900,when he wanted 2k so basically he's paying his own flight
this might catch on,anytime your wanna buy a car just tell the owner youll give him 100 quid less and youll pay for the flight

tell you what would be a good gesture,if he paid him half before he went down, then if anything happens on the way down he's not just left stranded on his own,do you really think paul would come up soem of the way to recover him if he's not paid a penny, doubt it

1900 is a piss poor deal, the wheels are worth over 400 alone, thats before you even get into takin bits off the car,so he's bascally gettin it for 1500 as most s1's you get to strip are on the std wheels
mind if this was on a genuine s1 shell it would be in the 4-5k bracket easily
id break it yourself mate, youll get well over the 2k asking price

I've seen this car in the flesh and the pictures of it dont do it any justice whatsoever. This would easily break for alot more than the £1900 thats being offered

for those wanting it delivered, not gona happen. the advert was clearly for collection only..if you want it come and get it..thats how buying a car ussual works unless im mistaken?

not trying be an arse here, but taking a day off work to dirve 6-7hrs, probably 100quid on fuel, for less money than the asking price...and being givin a 20quid easyjet ticket in return for the trouble...no deal!

sorry but can you sell a car knowing its a ringer,if someone puts it back on the road and gets caught it will come back to you.as you know its a ringer you could be blamed if not charged with handling stolen goods.
i actually think £1900 is way over priced for something that is more trouble than its worth.
i personly would that pauls offer just to know that the car will be broke and the shell crushed if not do it yourself.

They have to really mate..it's on a genuine S1 vin & reg when it's been re-shelled into a non-S1 shell.
It is in stunning condition judging from the pics I've seen. Not sure if you'd be able to turn it into a track car to get over the dodgy history?

Spoke to someone today about this car and they said in the old days when you done a reshell you could tack the old chassis number next to the new one or have the old chassis number crossed out and the new one stamped next to it or on the strut top.

IMO that car shouldnt be broke and should be used on the road even if it takes a bit of hassle getting the id sorted and even if it ends up an XR3 log book its still a nice machine.

Tezzler Now isn't the old days tho.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...le/DG_10014246

Pay attention to this bit:

In order to retain the original registration mark cars must use:

The original unmodified chassis or unaltered bodyshell (i.e. body and chassis as one unit - monocoque); or a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer or manufacturer (e.g. receipt).
And two other major components from the original
and this bit:

If a second-hand chassis or monocoque bodyshell is used, the vehicle must pass a an enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA) or single vehicle approval (SVA) test after which a "Q" prefix registration number will be allocated.

How do you know it's stolen?

If the owner/ringer bought a smashed/rotton S1 and transfered everything including the ID into another shell which he also bought, which bit of it do you class a stolen? It's still a ringer as it's an XR3i shell on S1 ID so it's not what it says it is, although it is 99.9% the same spec as a genuine RS.

To make the car 100% legit again all it needs it the original XR3I ID putting back on it.

cars haven't been put on q plates for years, and it only illegal if any stolen parts are used , it is totaly legal to re shell a car what do you think body shop do when they re shell cars into new shells?
all you need is a stolen vehicle inspection and the police will stamp the vehicle in several places with a number starting with sabtv*********, and it will get left on a relevant age related plate, 99% of the time they get left on plate they inspected on but some times you could gain a year or lose a year

the best thing would be to get the plates sorted and if it did get a q plate then put a private plate on it sorted
