530bhp Ford Sapphire Cosworth 2WD 1990 – NOW SOLD
The car as detailed below is for sale on behalf of a very good friend of mine:
530bhp Ford Sapphire Cosworth 2WD 1990 – Reg No. C6 COS (This plate comes with the car at the asking price)
ENGINE SPEC:
The engine was fully rebuilt just prior to my mate buying the car in August. Comprehensive Spec. list includes:
Head:
Ported & Gas flowed to Touring Car Spec. (capable of 550bhp)
Double valve springs installed
BD16 inlet camshaft
BD14 exhaust camshaft
Adjustable cam pulleys (Latest design Piper Verniers in blue)
WRC Headgasket
Block:
200 Block
WRC Long Studded
Low Compression Mahle Pistons bowled to 7.2.1 comp ratio with large valve cutouts
ARP Conrod Bolts
Balanced Bottom End
High Pressure Oil Pump
Big Wing Sump Assembly
ENGINE MISC:
T4 Turbocharger with GT35 Compressor Housing & 360 Deg. Bearing etc (Rebuilt December 2006 by Vince Osborne)
AH Fabrications RS500 Intercooler (was brand new in July 2006)
L8 ECU running 4 x 1000cc Siemens Injectors
Bosch 044 Fuel Pump Set-up with Aeroquip lines to fuel rail
Oil Cooler Assembly Fitted late 2006
Full Set of Polished Alloy Tanks (Header Tank, Breather, Swirl Pot etc)
Full Set of Silicone Hoses (Boost & Coolant)
TRANSMISSION:
Straight Cut 5 Speed. (Cost £3000 in October) Not sure of spec – will update as soon as poss. This is not that noisy actually!
Paddle Clutch Kit
SUSPENSION:
AVO Coilovers (these were supplied by me in mid-2006 and are as new)
Polybushes
BRAKES:
Standard 2WD with Uprated Pads
EXHAUST:
Mongoose Stainless Exhaust with 4” Tail
INTERIOR:
Full Leather Interior
Autometer Ultra-lite Boost Gauge
Autometer Ultra-lite Oil Pressure, Volts & Water Temp Gauges
EXTERIOR:
Recent near bare metal respray in Flint Grey – absolutely immaculate.
Morette 4-headlight conversion
Unique Silver Graphics (to be revealed when photos are uploaded asap)
WHEELS & TYRES:
Mint Set of Escort Cosworth 8”x16” Alloys
205/45/16 Tyres (Either Toyos or Falkens not entirely sure – nearly new in tread depth tho)
GENERAL NOTES:
Many of the parts on the car are new as I supplied them to the previous owner and my mate who owns it now.
Following the recent rebuild to 530bhp specification upon buying the car, the current owner immediately took it to Karl Norris at NMS where it received:
Big Wing Sump
Oil Cooler System
1000cc Injectors
Fuel Pump set up and fuel system with aeroquip lines
Cam Timing set up (NMS figures!)
Denso IK31 Spark Plugs
GroupA Coil
Full live mapping session and set-up to near perfection.
The brief to Karl @ NMS was for a set-up that would suffice for regular track-use, which Karl took very seriously. The set up of this engine is faultless. At 30 psi this car is seriously quick.
Other things were replaced by NMS at this time: Starter, Amal Valve, Throttlebody, TPS, Crank Sensor, Earth lead etc. He got it running faultlessly. The bill just before Christmas was £2700.00
One important note to make is that the car was recently rebuilt using a mint 1991 Sapphire 2000E shell. This was done purely as the new shell was absolutely mint and free of rust. The shell was painted by Dave Pritchard who painted my own car and his work is fantastic. Good enough to go on a stand and win some awards in 2007 maybe. The paint job is superb. Take a look at the car – on the C6 COS plate you would not know any difference.
It was bought and sent to NMS with the remit to prepare it track day abuse but has not yet seen an inch of the track since the work at NMS was carried out. In fact it’s only been used a handful of times in November and December. This is probably too good to thrash on a track. But if you're going to do it, this will do it properly!
PRICE:
He is only selling this car because a good spec. Escort Cosworth came up just before Christmas at a price he could not refuse and he simply has not got the space to keep two Cosworths so it's a genuine reason for the sale.
He is asking £6950.00 including the C6 COS Reg. Plate. The engine, gearbox and COS Reg. No. are worth £7500 alone!!
I must stress that I am not the seller, but any 1st stage enquiries will go through me as my mate doesn’t come on here and works away. You can either pm me or get me on my mobile 07721 078371.
Numerous pictures of the car including the stunning engine bay will appear on here by the weekend. I will also update the spec. to add anything I may have missed.

no pics and still sold within a day!....personally after reading the spec (and yes it may/may not be cosworth log booked), I was expecting a £10k+ asking price. Someone got a bargain hope they enjoy it.
