1988 Escort RS Turbo for sale
Hi All
Selling my 1988 E Reg radiant red Escort RS Turbo S2.
Despite buying this car 2 years ago to do track days (bought the beast you'll see on my avatar which I am now racing) I never got round to using it, need the room so now has to go within the next 7 days.
Bought the car on Ebay initially with the intention of using the motorsport engine in my Son's Escort Cosworth replica, realised very quickly that it was too fast for an inexperienced driver and the car was far too good to break. Knew it would be an animal on the track and intended to go full race spec but now I'm racing the Elise there is no point in keeping hold of it.
Engine rebuilt by Glynn Odell, ex A1 Rallysport, rated at 210 bhp at 7 psi for reliability, so potential to go a great deal more. This car is seriously quick, definitely quicker than my stage 1 275bhp Sapphire I had a couple of years ago and almost as quick as my 450bhp Sapphire I have now!!!!
Full spec and pictures as below.
5000 miles since full engine rebuild by Odell Motorsport to racing standards.
Ported and gas flowed head.
Kent race cam.
Reconditioned Garrett T3
-31 Acuator
Mahle low compression race pistons
Group A head gasket
K & N cone filter
Chromed crossover pipe
Chromed throttle body plate
Chromed Ignition coil holder
ECU superchipped
Sierra Cosworth front brakes
4 inch scorpion stainless steel exhaust
New G Max suspension lowered 25mm
2 x Thatcham immobilisers
Pioneer head unit
Paintwork is in very good condition for year, tiny amount of rust as detailed below, all panels look original, wings have correct date stamps, no dents but a few stone chips which is only to be expected for a 18 year old car.
Last MOT in February 2005, only done a couple of hundred miles since, will MOT for 12 months next week.
Not much history with car, as I said bought from Ebay for engine alone, I'm sure that Glynn Odell will be able to confirm the spec of the engine, I understand that it was a friend of Glynn's that had the work done.
I'm looking for £1,950 ono, bear in mind that to rebuild a race engine to this spec would cost you well over £2000. With a fifth injector and increased boost this car would be a match for anything on the track, even beating my Elise, the car is alraedy too fast for the road in my opinion.
Handles extremely well on the lowered G Max suspension.
Have to sell quickly so if no interest in the next few days will go on Ebay.
If your interested PM me or ring me (David) on 07957418658.
Car is in Enfield North London and can be viewed most days as I work from home.
Thanks for looking
Only bad points are a small amount of rust on front of bonnet (cant find any other rust which is amazing), the drivers seat bolster needs repaired (easily and cheaply replaced I understand)and a couple of the alloys need refurbed (again wheels are readily available for about £20), pics below

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Does it have a decent intercooler with that power, looks like a standard one. is it still a 1600?
If it is still a standard intercooler on a 1600 with a t3 at 7 psi you will be lucky to make much above standard.

Thanks for your comments.
I dont know if the intercooler is standard, if you say it looks like it then your probably right, afraid I dont know much about RS Turbo's, never having had one before.
If you reckon that I am only going to achieve standard power, which is about 130bhp I believe, then I really have to disagree. If that was the case what is the ported and gas flowed head, Kent race cam, superchipped ECU and low compression pistons doing?, nothing at all?
I have driven a standard RS Turbo and I can assure you that this is not standard, bear in mind that I currently have a 450bhp Sapphire and the kick in the back on boost is very similar.
However, I am only quoting what I was told when I bought the car, maybe the boost is not 7 psi I honestly dont know, the information came from a friend of the guy that had the work done at Odell Motorsport.
All I can say is it is a racing prepared and tuned engine and no way is that going to produce standard power.
Cheers

Had a couple of requests for the engine, sorry I wont break, the car is far too good for that although I know that I could get at least £3000 for the parts without any trouble, I was offered £1500 for the engine alone by a racing team last year.
Haven't got the space or the time to consider breaking as the car must be gone this week, now on Ebay, anyone wanting a genuine bargain please bid, happy to demonstrate car any time in the next few days before bidding ends.

Less than 2 days to go on Ebay, currently £510, will be removing reserve so it will go for whatever it achieves as I need the space.
Anyone wanting a XMAS bargain bid or you'll lose out.
Good Luck

Cheers Ian
Knew Jaiz couldn't insure just teasing, might have the ideal project for him though, probably will be selling the Escort Cossie replica next month, 1100 engine will get to 60 mph downhill with a following wind
Really regretting giving you the 3 door back, would you believe I'm seriously considering buying another
Racing the Elise next year, first race Brands late March, might be televised, prepping the car soon so I need the space, have to get rid of at least 3 cars
If RS Turbo doesn't sell will bring to next meet, hope to see you there.
Cheers

Ok Ian see you there, never know I might have another 3 door by then, looking for one without an engine so I can stick my 450bhp Sapphire lump in.
RS Turbo didn't sell reached just over a grand before I pulled it, wasn't going to get anywhere near my £1800 reserve and I couldn't lower the reserve for some strange reason.
Anyone interested I am going to relist at £1500 "buy it now", must be worth at least that.

SOLD for £1500 through PISTONHEADS free advert, many thanks to the timewasters on here that make promises and fail to turn up, 6 people who clearly think I have nothing better to do than stay in waiting for them to turn up, or to the one that did turn up and gave a load of bullshit about what he "thought" he knew about the car.
It is people like that that give this forum a bad name.

Cheers Jaiz, hate selling cars due to timewasters, dont know why there are so many on here, had more calls on Pistonheads advert and the 3 that said they were coming turned up on time and each of them wanted the car, the guy that turned up today took it at asking price without an MOT!!!!
Escort Replica next, tatty but cheap.
