1991 Escort RS2000 - Cosworth Replica
I bought the car as soemthing to show off in, but then decided that i'd like to strip it out and turn it into more of a rally-themed car, whilst still maintaining some of the creature comforts you really need on a road car. Electric windows, power steering, sunroof.
With the car comes a huge folder of service history, old MoT's, tax discs, receipts, instruction manuals etc, and all
the original ford dealer documentation. Its also HPi Clear.
Engine
108,000 miles on the shell, but a replacement engine was fitted that had done 42k at the time, and is now up to 67k.
The engine is completely bulletproof, never smokes and pulls extremely well through all the gears. Standard RS2000 produces 150hp, and i have ever reason to believe that this car is up on standard power due to the very impressive performance. I've only done about 1100 miles in the car since i bought it in February 2005, as its been my baby tucked up in the garage for the most part. The engine has had the following
K&N 57i kit with cold air duct
K&N breather filter
Full Stainless Powerflow system with 4" tailpipe (very loud, sounds wonderful)
New Thermostat
New Plugs
New Alternator (fitted 100 miles ago)
New Aux Belt
Fan Override Switch
Bodywork
In 2001 the car was treated to the full Cosworth Fibreglass Kit from MC Rallying, and was repainted in Citroen Polar White, which is just slightly more bluey and icey than normal Ford Diamond White. Modifications include:
Cosworth Arches
Cosworth Bonnet Vents (Cut in, not stick on)
Cosworth Front Bumper
Morette Quad headlamps (just rebuilt, i have replaced 2 of the lamp units at frightening cost)
Cosworth Indicators (clear)
Cosworth Fogs
Cosworth Sideskirts
Cosworth Rear Bumper
Cosworth Front Grille
Full Cosworth Upper and Lower spoilers
Clear Repeaters
Delocked (Professionally - plates welded, not just filled over)
Cosworth Front Splitter in Ford Black
Debadged
3/4 size number plate
Suspension
The car absolutely excels in the handling stakes. In order to make up for the lack of power compared to a normal Cosworth, i wanted to concentrate on having the handling of the car spot-on. Hence, i completely rebuilt the front suspension in order so i was fully happy and trusted the car round corners. Its now about 80mm lower at the front and
60mm lower at the back.
Brand New Full Gaz Coilover Kit (Cost £500) (32 position damping and full height adjustable)
225lb front springs (fast road spec)
170lb rear springs (fast road spec)
E-tech adjustable Alloy front strut brace
Sparco Rear Strut brace
New top mounts on both sides
New lower wishbones on both sides (with all new pinch bolts - no replacing old bolts here)
New ARB drop-links on both sides
New track rod end
Tracking just set (20 miles ago)
Transmission
3x New wheel bearings fitted
Burton Power 10mm front spacer kit with extended wheel bolts
Burton Power 32mm rear spacer kit with extended wheel bolts
Brakes
Standard Rs2000 Setup (260mm front discs, 270mm rear discs)
New Rear Pads
Brakes fully bled and fluid changed (Aug 2006)
3 new brake pipes for MoT
One new rear brake caliper for MoT
Interior
Despite having a very nice Recaro interior as standard, i decided i wanted a stripped look inside the car, and wanted to save some weight. Plus, carrying passengers? Thats a bit overrated these days is it not However i kept the Recaro seats as i find them extremely supportive and a lot more comfortable than bucket seats from the likes of cobra etc.
Sound Deadening Removed
Carpets, Rear Bench, Boot trims etc removed
Door cards retained, with Kenwood Dualmag Component Speakers
Whole floor primed and then painted in Hammerite Hammered White for extra protection.
Mk5 Rs2000 Recaro Front Seats, But professionally upholstered with red piping (cost £100 Extra, receipt included)
2x Sabelt 3 point harnesses
WRC style Flocked Dasboard (done by Central Blast cleaning, banbury, at a cost of £170)
Flocked Steering Column
Mobile Phone Holder
Rs2000 Aluminium Gearknob
Red Leather Gear Gaitor
Front Chequerplate Floor Mats (proper ones)
Wheels
Genuine 8x16 Escort Cosworth Alloys
2x Yokohama A539 205/45 16 tyres ~6mm tread (rear)
2x Continental Contisport 215/40 16 tyres ~5mm tread (front)
All centre caps present and undamaged
Locking Wheel nuts with key
Security
Sigma M30 Cat 1 Alarm Immobiliser
The car is not currently taxed but has 11 months MoT, which it passed with no advisories. I havent done any miles in the car since driving it home from the MoT! The only bad points i'd point out are
1. couple of cracks on the bodywork at the wings and sideskirt.
2. bubble on bonnet, and cracked paint around the vents
3. due to the lowness of the car the front ARB sometimes hits off the underside of the car, causing a clunk. Really the car should be a bit higher at the front, but i just love it being this low. Also, the splitter makes the car
quite undriveable this low at the front so i'll probably remove it before anyone test drives the car.
Over the next few days i'll take more pics of the car after i've polished it, and let everyone see the interior, the service history etc. i've got a couple of parts to fit to it still, namely escort cosworth washer jets in the front bumper, and a new bonnet catch cable.
I'm asking £2500 for the car, which i think is really keen seeing as a normal Rs2k can command 2k easily, and this is brilliantly specced and is absolutely awesome in the handling stakes, especially on a track surface. Add that to the value of parts such as the coilovers, braces, morettes, and genuine escos alloys, and the car is worth a small fortune in parts too!
I have all the interior, minus carpet, should you wish to return it back to a 5 seater, boo!
Car is located in fife, scotland

Yes just the lip on the front and the drop from the coilovers, plus running 40 profile tyres on the front of the escos rims makes the front rather low.
Yes its a big spacer kit on the back, its actually from ABP motorsport, just found the receipt. Includes lengthened bolts too. All necessary, as i've seen replicas running the normal width at the back and the wheels just dont fill the arches.
and no I don't have the brake disc sizes wrong.
