I've just bought an Mk4 H reg 1.4 petrol escort combi and have a couple of questions. Firstly- I want to lower it- Do I use estate springs & shocks or van? It has a 1.4 cvh- can I do anything to get reasonable power from this or should I change it to a 1.6 carb'd? What would I need for this conversion? Please help, I've been a BMW owner for the last year and I've just returned to the world of Ford

 

use the same suspension you would for a saloon, and reasonable power? aint gonna see much out of 1.6 carbs are ya?

 

Saloon? Ford didn't make a MK4 saloon- that was called the Orion. Do you mean estate?

as above tho just use shocks of an rs turbo or a like

as for engine id recomend turboing it easy to do and very fast when modded

PROGRESS REPORT: I've found out that Orion exhausts fit straight on so I've got a perf system on the way. Fitted a set of alloys off ebay & Lowered 2" and will have back windows by Monday........
