Default MK5 Golf - models to avoid?

Hi, I'm considering getting a mk5 golf for my next daily. I preferably want something that isn't gutless but it doesn't have to be a GT/GTI etc, but I was wondering if anybody knew of models/engines to avoid??

As far as I am aware, the 1.6 petrol still has the same inherent gearbox issues as the MK4, so I presume it has the same engine gearbox, although I'd like somethng with a bit more poke anyway. Any info on the 1.4tsi or 2.0tdi or any other models?

Thanks

1.9 tdi common for busting blocks, rattling flywheel can make the big end bolts come lose,
bearings pitted can also cause them to fail aswel, Ł1k+ foe engine

2.0tdi injectors are known for letting go, Ł250 new set recon ones, turbos wouldnt be the strongest but only give bother if mapped out to the max, better engine than the 1.9bxe,

That's good to know as I was unaware of any common faults on the diesel engines, thanks!

Anyone have any knowledge of the 1.4tsi or 2.0GT?

Thanks

2.0 gt 170bhp? same as the 2.0 140bhp think turbo might be different tho, another thing buy 2.0tdigt after 07 as early 2.0's give old pump trouble

2.0 tdi 170 oil pumps, porus heads, head gaskets, tandem pumps, injectors.

140 is the better model.
