Are you completely off your rocker?

Why would you pay a minimum of £800 for a bike your gonna use for a charity cycle?

Don't be daft - you can hook yourself up with a good, fully working well specced bike nowadays for less than £300 - I know cos my bro has been running a mountain bike shop (see actual SHOP Ginge ) for the past 8 years
mmm thats imteresting info there

dont wanna burst ya bubble vut a full sus bike for
300 quid is shite

think of it logically, 300 quid for a full bike, shippingm distibution and then selling in a store, remeber that cycles have a MAX profit of 30%, that means the bike costs about 70 to 100 quid to make, thats for R&D ect, mate your talking crap, you can not get a decent full sus bike for 300 quid, you can get a pretty bike for that, with cable ( ) disc brakes that LOOKS the part, just like ya can make a 1100 saxo look like a real power jap style machine, shame its all bolt on bollocks and actually SHITE

now ya bro RUNS a bike shop, whats the name of the one he runs, i only ask as i was managing a cycle shop from the age of 16 and i left the game as there NO MONEY in it unless ya own a shop, but its alot of work due to being busy in the summer and bored in the winter

now due to the fact that ive prob delt wioth most cycle shops in central london as ive been working around em since the age of 13 when i first started as a saturday boy i think im slightly more than qualifed to comment on the situation, the reason for me leaving halfords was i was STUCK in the cycle section and i didnt wanna be there but due to my knowlage i couldnt move untill there was a replacement, now that would never happen due to the shite wages the company pays

now if ya would like to know the specs of all 11 of my bikes feel free, not one of them was purchased from halfords OH and not one of them has any suspention as i have found i dont need it

oh and i had one of the first 10 gt lts frames in the country when they was first released due to my then relationship with carrati, thats how much i was involved in that game, just after a while ya discover that women are more fun to ride than bikes and my sunday training turned into nursing a hang over

dont judge people based on what you see, some people are very good at some things but choose not to talk about it as it bores the pants off most people

still i would like to know the shop your brother runs, would like to now what stuff it sells and what his yearly takings are to discover if its a REAL bike shop or not

boxxer works for a REAL bike shop, but hes fooking good and knows more than me these days
My fucking my - aren't we touchy?

ginge where, at any point, has the thread starter asked for a "top spec, all singing all dancing" bike? He wants a fooking bike to do a charity cycle on FFS, not enter the downhill forest world championships on

My bro rins Abbey Cross Cycles in Waltham Cross (just down the road from Ford) which is also a Motorfactors, and has done since he was 16, 8ish years ago. It has been there a lot longer than that as I remember getting my first (possibly second) bike there when I was just a lad - and I'm 23 now!

Anyway, you CAN get yourself a decent bike for £300, or you can build/spec yourself one for a lot more. Maybe it won't have super-bling disc brakes or fooking suspension on it, but unless your a serious biker you probably won't want it anyway - you said yourself you have 11 bikes, non of which have suspension on em. I had a bike with front suspension and preferred it without tbh...

And don't be a complete dick - of course I'm not gonna tell you the financial status of his business but he's just bought a house (@ 25, never rented, straight into buying) so must be fairly good eh?
