correct me if im wrong, but ...
if you fit a pectel board and chip in say a p8 ecu,it will allow the use of coilpack, water injection antilag etc ect(as long as the chip is programmed to do it), but this is all part of the software that is on the chip, and the only reason is needs the pectel board is becasue the pectel sofware needs it to de-crypt the chip so it works ...
the p8 though has the hardware on board already does it not , to allow coilpack use through its second ignition driver circuit and the pectel software just switches it on, so is the same possible when using the marelli boards when using the marelli software (like stu) to program the chip to use the extra ignition driver , OR does the 'P' in P8 signify pectel, as in it was developed by pectel so only thier software can enable all the features....
im just a lil confused as if it is only the software on the chip which determines the functions of the ecu (hardware dependand) surely any software would be able to utilise the hardware, OR does the marelli software only allow you to change the actual mapping and/or load points of boost, fuel, ignition etc ect
what sparked this off was i found a bike site
http://www.sigmaperformance.com/weber.html
which says"The P8 followed, this had some useful additional features, such as the ability to fire individual injectors on one cylinder at different times"
any mapping people feel free and join in,
