Actually we do tell them they can do it themselves. Why bother to lie about something like this which actually makes very little money in the scheme of things and then risk upsetting a customer? We aren't selling just the licence check, but the convenience of getting it done, providing electronic reporting and exception reports so any naughties can be spotted very easily, and sharing the risk associated with allowing someone to drive on business.

If someone were to be ran over by a disqualified driver, the natural target for compensation has to be the employer who gave him the keys without ensuring he was qualified to drive. By buying this service the employer can PROVE that he took reasonable precautions.

Many of my customers have from 50 - 3000 vehicles and many of them don't have a dedicated person looking after vehicles so some of them pay us to do it, some do it themselves, some check paper licences from time to time, and some just take their chances.
