if your talkin about the same car, the new shape m3! convertable or not would piss on a std 3dr, and 30-50 aint much of a test, that would only take about 1 1/2 seconds, i raced one in my 330 saf and there was tiny amount in it so theres no way you could do the same with 130bhp less

the m3 either wasnt tryin, the road was crap so any gti would have been the same , or your car was a lot faster than std

Sorry, you`re correct - I didn`t read the original post correctly

I was referring to the e36 and not the later e46 m3, hence my reference to the e39 m5 which is what I would class as being from the same era as the e36 m3. However your figures are IMO a little out; mid 12 seconds down the 1/4 is optimistic for even an e46 13.5 / 13.4 is much more like it, as is 5.5seconds 0-60.
Also I’m assuming my 3dr is standard (it was certainly sold as that!) It’s the first Cosworth I’ve owned so have nothing to compare it with as such. The only rr (Circuit Motors at Castle Combe) info I have for it is 188bhp at the wheels, does that sounds right for a standard Cossie? Would have though transmission loss would mean it would be slightly less? 160 or so?

You are also dreaming if you think a standard 3 door could beat an E36, straight, corners or otherwise unless it was stuck in 1st
