In the grand scale of things a standard 3dr's performance is piss poor but pretty much on a par with a new M3. The M3 is an awesome car though, so much so I nearly bought one but ended up going for an e39 M5.
If you’re comparing the M3 with a majority of other standard road cars then yes, it's a damn fast and very capable car, which also highlights how quick the Cossie was nearly 20 odd years ago and even in standard form still is today.
sorry mate but thats

if your talkin about the same car, the new shape m3! convertable or not would piss on a std 3dr, and 30-50 aint much of a test, that would only take about 1 1/2 seconds, i raced one in my 330 saf and there was tiny amount in it so theres no way you could do the same with 130bhp less

the m3 either wasnt tryin, the road was crap so any gti would have been the same , or your car was a lot faster than std
