Default Chip Advice on a S2 RST

Hi all,

I have a MK4 Cabbie which I've converted to an RS back in August.

My other half bought me a Chipped ECU for Christmas. I put it on and the car wouldn't run at all. I found out the chip causes the electronic timing to be well off. Instead of 12 degrees it was running about 4. When I put the strobe on it with everything connected the timing mark hardly seems to move reagrdless of what RPM the cars running at. I set the timing mark to 12 degrees by altering the dizzy and seems to be running ok.

My question is, should I need to alter the timing as much as this when swapping the ECU. I have heard that it shouldn't be like this but i'm not 100% sure.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Cheers
Dave
