That is 100% sound advice, even in standard trim they break alot! Once you start modding them............you will find out!

As also said above they are a piece of piss to work on, just make sure when you do any mods to the engine, turbo, fuel system, ignition etc you get it checked over and set up properly.

Best thing you can do is read through various posts on this forum, you will learn LOTS!
