I pulled into a carpark where the police tested the volume of the exhaust, at idle and 4,000rpm. It was 98dB, apparently the limit is 80dB?
Ive been given 14 days to change the exhaust, £30 spot fine and the car has been logged on the ANPR database with a loud exhaust.
Can they do this?
What should i do, get the exhaust changed or leave it?
Now they have you tagged its best to get it sorted for several reasons:
1) Neighbours won't think you are such a tool.
2) If they pull you again, and they simply don't like you, they do have the power to confiscate the car under section 59.
I replaced a very loud KMS Thunder storm with a decent Miltek the week after i bought my last car. It was embarrassing to drive, plus i worried about my car getting vandalised.
