Yes very true, it could be down as the manufacturer of the kit car. I wonder how that would stand in terms of competition though. Would a GBS "Escort" be eligible for historic racing/rallying? I would assume not.
I think a lot of the historic race series allow this sort of thing to help fill the grids and keep the costs down.
