I agree with alot of the comments about. People are a bit snobby when it comes to cars but in a way not many people would buy a mondeo when they could buy an Audi Bm merc for the same money. I think cars shows have changed but this is because I think people are scared to use the older Fords to drive to them.
It think with young people social media has alot to answer for. They see people driving posh cars so they think they should be like them.

I personally get more excited about an old mk3 fiesta(for eg) than I would a Audi RS4( for eg)
