you should probably start with the 2.0 block if you're looking for lots of power as taking almost 5mm out of a 1.8 zetec bore will seriously weaken it. if you want high compression then you'll need pistons with some sort of dome like JE 218797 (

Its already built.
The initial idea was to use the mondeo 2.0 block. But someone offered me a 1.8 bored for a very good price. And as a couple of guys here are using the 1.8 block bored to 2.0 for over a decade, ah, what the heck... Just did the same.
It's built as I said in the previous post, and I'm using a obx stage 2 pair of camshafts.
