as above; put some diesel in the filter - they are a right pain!
some 'easy start' may help
filter I just unclipped turned upside down and filled from bottom with washing up bottle careful not to spill on alternator which is right below filter
also don't use easy start too often as diesels are prone to becoming addict to it and often won't start without it just keep intermittently cranking it it will start eventually and then should be fine assuming no other faults I.e the injectors failed
