I would love to put a straight cut gear set in it but I think it will cost to much but I'm going to make some enquiries about cost
Oil is critical, friction is required, not synthetics.
The problems are, driver, too fast on the shift, large gears create large inertia force, trying to slow the box down for the next gear needs sticky synchros, but, often then just can't.
Double and triple synchro cones would help, but they aren't fitted in 3rd/4th on this box.
Approx £7500 for a 5speed sequential, handles over 1100nm torque.
I'm looking at one for mine, so is Marc Kinsey for his fiesta. Get in on a group buy for the end of the year, got to be cheaper if we buy 3 kits.
The gears that takes the most to slow down are 1st and 2nd due to their size, most manufacturers use double or triple synchronisation now for this reason.
Very rare you will come down to first quickly in a track car, we do in rallying, in and out of first/second all the time. Mine selects no problem, you have to get the engine to lose power really quickly during gear shift.
You can't add shift strategy on L8 though.
Saves the box brilliantly.
