Yes it is the tensile strength i mean, "standard" bolts are 8.8 quality often zinc plated.
10.9 are blue painted and i think 12.9 is red painted but these are not very common on these cars.
Note that this is only on 80`s ford cars so its not a generall rule.
Thanks for clearing that one up. I have to ask the question as per Pauls list on where these bolts go, for the Sapph, is this 10.9 grade applied only on those areas.
Brake caliper bolts: 10.9 blue
rear hub bolts: 10.9 blue
Rear prop bolts: 10.9 blue
Steering wheel : 10.9 blue
rear beam bolts : 10.9 blue
If I use the common or standard 8.8 grade through out the vehicle to replace bolts and nuts that I've lost or couldn't fined, besides parts of the engine and to the exception of the above, it should be fine?'
My aim is to not use any old fastener but to come as close to OEM or what they would have used in factory during assembly.
