If it's a new car take it back and don't accept it back until they have found a problem and it's fixed. If they insist there is nothing wrong then call the garage next time it happens so they can come out and see. No nothing can be left on, the car even goes to sleep after 15 mins or so, which cuts power to everything inside so if a light was left on, it would switch off.
