Had one of these in 1972 in Lotus colours Green/Cream. Allowed £80 in px when selling a Sports car to raise a deposit on my first house. Sold it a month later for £85. Wish you well with this project its funny how time makes these cars worth doing up when back then they were worth next to nothing.
1972... so probably less than 10 years old and probably on it's last legs. Nowadays a ten year old car is likely to be rust-free and good for another 100,000 miles if correctly maintained.
