I had a very expensive but old mountain bike in my garage. One day when cleaning the garage or working on the car I took the bike out and lent it on my fence.
2 weeks later I was in the garage and couldn't find the Bike lol. It was long gone.
I then bought a new one and did exactly the same thing about a month later having never even used the new bike lol.
I haven't replaced it since lol.
