Mk5a XR3i Ford Escort cabriolet cosworth rep zetec turbo
I've bought this car which would have been a great car back in the 2000s, but has been neglected for quite a while I would've thought. I took some pictures of it when it was icy, but you get the idea. I'll pop them in the next post.
I think I may need to ask a lot of questions about getting things sorted and figured this would be a good place to get advice.
I've got 3 questions initially:
1). How do I get the aftermarket steering wheel/boss to stop scraping on the steering wheel column?
2). If a hood has been badly fitted is it quite straightforward to get it properly refitted so there's no gaps?
3). It looks like someone has jammed a large bolt in to hold the roof up on the passenger side front. Is this common and does it point to bigger problems that are being hidden?
4). How much roughly would brake lines cost fitted?
5). It has an alarm which is playing up by flashing the indicators for no reason on and off. What's the best way to get around this? I was thinking of a switch under the bonnet and flicking it off after driving it as I will only be driving one day a week so won't be a massive faff. Once I've got the bodywork sorted out (small cracks on rear quarter panels, cracked rear bumper and scuffs in a couple of places) I'll look at having a new alarm installed with turbo timer.
I posted a thread in escortevo but it's a lot quieter than it used to be!
