I've been told on Ford power to use a 2.5TD Transit clutch...

I have money to buy a clutch kit but don't want to get it wrong, and I'm not sure about buying different bits of different clutch kits..

I want to fit the flywheel to the engine, fit the clutch kit then fit the gearbox all on the deck then put it on a crossmember and bolt up to the car, I'd like to avoid removing the gearbox if it goes tits up!

I'd go with your set up Wes but I don't want a heavy clutch.

My 24v'd XR4x4 came to me already converted, according to the receipts in the folder that came with the car it was fitted with a 12v 2.9 XR4x4 clutch - which worked fine - of course that was a standard gearbox and a lightened 2.9 flywheel, no bother at all, it was rattly in neutral but I had presumed it was the release bearing.. maybe it was the springs? I should go count them sometime?

Anyway none of that is being used in my Saff. I have a 2.8 flywheel (new bolts & spigot bearing ready), 9 teeth stater, hybrid MT75 with modded pivot point but need some solid evidence of which clutch kit to use.

How about a standard 2.8 clutch kit, will the 2.9 clutch kit work with the 2.8 fly and modded gearbox?
