What happens to stuff partially used in hotel rooms

I mean, I opened a bar of soap last nite to wash my hands, and this evening it has been replaced with a brand new one

What happened to the bar of soap that still had plenty of use left in it

Do hotel staff take them home yeuk

Anyway, off to spend someone else's money on dinner
