my T4 engine with lots of mid range boost so if the Spec is right you can do that. Its nothing to do with ported shroud but cam choice. This was back in 1999 so its been possible for a long time. Great engine maybe the best I ever had.
I was running a pair of bd14s rod but standard ports, the point im trying to make to the op is with a gt3076 and standard port head it wont make big mid range torque it will be a compromise with boost capping, well either that or a feckin surge monster
honestly my t4 at 2.2 bar below 5600 rpm it sounded horrendous, I wasn't sure what it was to start with, until I watched the boost gauge and saw the boost jumping from 22 - 32 psi rapidly
I didn't mind as I bought it built and it was the right price but I certainly wouldn't want to go to the trouble of building an engine for it to turn out like that.
