As a professional driver it is your responsibility it insure your have the correct tools to do the job. One of those tools is a digi card.
Its not about applying for the card, it's weather or not you are exempt for having one.
If you have never applied for a digi card and you intend to use that as an excuse I don't think it will wash with the dvsa.
I'm fully awear of the fact you have to carry your digi card at all times while driving a hgv if you have one!
We are talking about someone driving a truck at work to fill in. If it's an analog tacho truck and you don't own a digi tacho there's no problem. Some drivers own there own truck and have older ones that have older tachos and never drive trucks with digi tachos. There's nothing wrong with this and they don't need to have a digi card
