Default Engine warning light on

Hi,
I replaced the Intercooler to Egr valve pipe yesterday as the old pipe had split. On starting the engine after finishing, I noticed the engine warning light did not go out. I have checked the electrical plug on Egr valve and the one on plastic pipe at bottom ( the pipe which is fastened to sub frame and has a rubber pipe to the Intercooler on other end ) of radiator, I found I had forgot to reconnect the vacuum pipe on the Egr. After I reconnected it the light is still on, engine runs perfectly, plenty of power, no unusual noises. Does the light have to be reset via code reader/computer?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Badman.
ps. The car is a mk3 2.0L TDCI 96kw mondeo titanium estate with the electrical Egr valve.
