A plated diff is an LSD..
Viscous, plated and the likes of quaife/torque biasing diffs are all different types of LSD.

I did have a quaife diff in my escort rs turbo and it was very nice not noisy like a plated diff and worked well but I really dislike them in rwd cossies.
