Might be worth asking Stu @ motorsport developments what his installers do.

On the couple of occasions I've seen VWs get remapped (loading a pre-tuned flash) by Revo and AmD all they did was road test with vag-com/vcds showing live data. When main dealers do cal updates from the manufacturers they aren't AFR checked either.

Obviously if you're building a cal from scratch that's a different kettle of fish altogether.
