I think they both look great in what they have to offer, ps4 looks nicer but the xbox just offers more in the way of entertainment for the family other than just a games console and blu ray player.
When you talk about pros and cons, which includes the fact xbox are going to charge after a game has been used twice, so how many of you lend a game out, I know I don't, the people I play with buy the games so we can all go online, so I will buy the game use one of its online passes and then trade it in, that way its still worth the same money as if I was trading the ps4 version.
As for online playing there is nothing between them, in order to play online with the ps4 you now need a multiplayer subscription, but as everyone knows who has had both consoles xbox live as a package wins. Plus as for xbox needing a 24 hour check, that doesn't affect me or anyone with an internet connection which lets be honest is most people nowadays.
For people saying about price I think as the xbox comes with the Kinect the price is justified, the ps4 doesn't come with the ps eye which will cost about £60 so there's your price difference. If you think about how many families have an xbox and brought the Kinect when it came out to play games as a family, its a good idea to include it as a package for skype calling etc etc.
Like what has already been said about the games, xbox has a lot more exclusive products and the fact map packs etc will be released on it first.
