Statement from the RSOC so as to not cause any misunderstanding
We can today make 2 statements concerning insurance for the RSOC and its members.
Public Liability and Shows including visiting car clubs:
Firstly apologies that this has taken a few days to resolve, however, we have now reviewed all aspects of the RSOC Public Liability Cover and are close to agreeing a revised and tailored policy which encompasses all of the needs of the RSOC, its members and visiting car clubs to RSOC shows. It also confirms that visiting car clubs are covered at RSOC events in 2013.
It is, of course, preferable and advisable for visiting car clubs to have their own cover, as the RSOC does, for the benefit of their own members and addressing their own risks, but for the purposes of RSOC shows they are covered.
It is important to remember that the RSOC policy does not cover any form of individual track activity (track days or parade laps) and anyone intending to go on the track needs to assess their own insurance needs and at RSOC shows they will be required to sign an indemnity.
RSOC groups (RSOC members only) who go to other shows should ensure that such shows are notified to Tony Francis and ensure they are recorded as "approved" shows for the purposes of insurance cover.
Car Insurance
When you receive your next RN you will see that we have negotiated with additional insurers to create a Panel of 5 Insurers, who all offer something different. This will add to and supplement (and still includes) Boncaster and Heritage to provide real choice and all members should be able to find insurance for their RS along with their other insurance needs. We are in the process of finalising the various agreements and will confirm shortly that it is all in place.
The above announcements are intended to let members know that we are working very hard to improve benefits to members.
We will add further detail as it becomes available.
