Exclamation Public Liability Insurance

As we have many insurers on here I would like everyone's input on this subject, Its something I now have to deal with more and more and think the whole subject is a grey area and a bit of a con if honest.

Here's my reasoning for wanting to know, Some large car shows and all rsoc arranged events now insist you have this cover , but surely the venue and those that have booked the venue have this cover so why would yet another 3rd party need this ?, I can fully understand this if you are trading etc and may have generators or machinery of some sort, but not surely at being a paid invited attendee as those that attend in their cars are charged but if you walk in there is no such requirement,

scenario , joe bloggs strolls around a show and stumbles head first into a RS200 causing himself personal injury and damaging the car, is it fair the car owner has nobody to claim off, but I feel sure the chap has a port of call to make a claim
