It varies mate, you tend to find traditionally with Fords that early examples, like the one in question were poorly equipped and later models got more.

So by that I would say that car does not have ABS, to confirm this look at a wheel hub, the absence of wheel sensors confirm this, plus the fact his ABS light does not illuminate, which is unlikely to be faulty.

Also you can also find find equipment that was present on a trim level miraculously disappears lol, one example of this is a Sierra Ghia, these had foot well lights from the new, then they disappeared and then reappeared again.

2003 onwards LX models do have ABS.
