Red needs to be connected to a supply and the ground connected to the door switch, so it completes the ground side, I guess it says to do what it does as old cars have a positive ground.

No, the switch is what is actuated by the door, hence the name.

I have found out how to do the Car Welcome Laser Projector Door Lights its just the push start button i'm not too sure about, what colour wires go to what colour wires on the ignition.
It may be a bit pointless having a push start button but i have a bit of a wrist injury and would just find it easer to push start the car with my left hand.
