My mondeo is also the same. It's always steamed up in the morning. In wet weather the fan needs to be on windscreen nearly all the time to stop it misting up! The carpets etc are dry so not too sure where it's coming in.
Yes use ac and turn heat up but dont recerc air, its to do with humidity,
My ST never mists up no matter what the weather,
Turn ac off and it will, always blow air to screen and have center airvents open when raining and just increase fan to suit and adjust heater turn to get a nice setting.
