Default ST200 running problem

Hi,

i've owned a st200 estate for over 4 years now, but its developed a intermittant fault and i have no idea what it could be.

the fault is that when i'm driving along at 70 on the motorway, the car will cut out for a split second, ie, the radio goes off and i get the ignition lights on the dash. if it wasn't for the radio going off, you wouldn't even notice as its that quick.

also if i'm accelerating quite hard it will do the same thing at the higher rev range.

i had a none ford alternator fitted about 2 years ago and i've had this fault for over a year now, could the 2 be related as i've heard st200's have a different regulator to other v6's?

any help would be great

cheers Matthew
