I'm not saying they're the fastest thing in the world. Obviously a decent boosted motor will piss over any NA VTEC engined car but that still doesn't take away from the fact that they are an extremely good piece of engineering so like I said you can't really call them crap.
One of the main reasons I got my DC2 is that I have a 35 mile daily commute to work and I can get low 30's on the MPG when I drive sensibly. I like having a car like the DC2 as my daily rather than having a beast and also a shitbox for commuting. The DC2 has reliablity, performance, style and acceptable running and mpg costs. Not many cars that can pull all those points off.
The NA Fords are pretty poor to be honest (Focus ST170, Fiesta ST). A guy who lives round the corner from me tried racing me off the lights in his ST170 and I left him for dead. Funnily enough he hasn't tried to race me since
I'm sorry but the "putting down good times because they don't have enough power to spin the wheels" thing is complete and utter bullshit. Even in a big power car if you actually have a bit of driving skill you can still get a good launch. If you bury the throttle straight away on anything with a bit of power then its going to spin the wheels. (Even a VTEC car believe it or not)
The fact that the boosted VTEC engine kept blowing up would have something to do with the way it was built. Its like anything, if its not built properly then it won't last will it (This is why I would never ever buy a French car but we won't open that can of worms)
Have you seen how much power the Yanks have been getting lately boosting stock S2000's?
We should meet up on track at some point and have a proper comparison. You'd probably beat me as I'm guessing your running big power but I think you'd be suprised at how well a properly set up DC2 goes round the track. Anyone can drive a fast car, not everyone can drive a car fast.
