if u get a tdci 2.0 get the facelift model they dont suffer with injectors as much so dont go near pre 2003 as they are the crap ones also be worth thinking about getting a ghia or st as my mate has a ghia 56 plate and its brilliant on diesel and if u wana tow it does high 30s so not bad really and the st are just good looking get a decent 2.0 and u can get 2.2 injectors remap and its just as quick as st
All the 2.0 TDCIs have exactly the same engines, so it doesn't matter whether it's a Zetec, LX, or Ghia it's the same engine. All STs are 2.2s, and there are some late non ST Mk3s (usually Titaniums, but not always) with the same 2.2 155 engine.

TDDis don't have the same issues, and later TDCis had revised injectors so are less prone to problems than earlier TDCis (which I think is what he means)
