There are loads of very reliable 2.0 TDCis about, but unfortunately when they do go wrong, it's seldom a cheap fix (as with pretty much all modern common rain diesels with DPFs).
My advice would be to NOT go on the mileage, but to only get one that had already had the injectors, and clutch/DPF work already carried out. Getting one with a low mileage is a false economy, if you then encounter £1000+ in bills because it's not already had the work done.
There does seem to be less issues with the 2.2, but then there are less of them about, so less stories of failure.
