i use my fluid extractor for these (and all diesels nowerdays tbh) its the vacuum type for draining sumps through the dipstick, i just attach it to pipe from filter to pump and give it a couple of pumps and they always start immediatley, before i had one of these i used to fill the filter to the brim with diesel then tow them until they started
dragging it up the road always works, but the last time someone i know did that, it jumped on the timing chain
all that just for a fuel filter chain
