I thought the temperature directly after the turbo could be translated quite well to temperatures near the cilinder head?

The way I see it the AFR gauge tells go whether it's running rich or lean. But after a while of hard driving the temperatures will go up, even if it's running on a good AFR, so therefore the EGT is important to monitor.

Or am I missing the clue?
