So last night i did some research about probable causes of my issue. As i posted, the most likely cause was the shaft of my water pump had worn and possibly the power steering pump too. I was hoping that because i had no power steering loss that i could maybe get away with just a water pump.
Whilst i was under the bonnet i also wanted to take out the egr and have a look at its current state.
Started to strip down the front yet again
Started on removing the egr
Now, it seems as though somebody has had the egr of previously and blanked it off, great if it was done properly however it wasnt and one of the studs has snapped off. Bugger, will have to do for now until i buy another egr. Still works as it is for the time being.
New pump awaiting fitment
I wasnt too sure on the procedure for removal and fitment etc so i just did what was easiest as i was working in the carpark outside my flat.
Im sure there are much easier ways but as i also want to see how it all comes apart from when i do a facelift i decided to remove bumper support as well as the rad and fan.
I also removed the inlet manifold to give me better access to any bolts.
At this point i also decided to remove the starter motor as this gave me better access to the bottom bolts holding the pump to the block.
And with the old water pump off its quite evident that its had its day
Pretty pissed off though as it appears the power steering pump is also fooked. Too late in the day to order one now so i will have to wait until monday
