As an everyday car that you don't want to have to maintain as you need to with older cars that are used daily, I'd keep the Mondeo. Creature comforts make a BIG difference. If you do decide to take the plunge take no notice of everyone who says that RS's are unreliable and all that - if you buy the wrong one and abuse it then they can go wrong (as ANY car would) but if you spend decent money, buy a decent car, look after it properly and don't abuse it they're absolutely fine.
